Beyond the Thesis: Navigating the Path to Leadership in Mathematics Education By : Siti Hajar binti Suliman

The journey of a researcher does not conclude with the submission of a thesis; rather, it marks the start of a professional trajectory that influences policy, practice, and future learners. A recent forum titled “Beyond the Thesis: Alumni Perspectives on Mathematics Education, Research, and Career Growth” on 8 June 2026, brought together two distinguished alumni from the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) to share their experiences transitioning from doctoral students to academic leaders.

Strengthening Global Alumni Collaboration through FIISME 2026

The International Innovative Science and Mathematics Education Festival (FIISME 2026) marked a pivotal moment in global educational collaboration. Held on 24–25 June 2026, the festival brought together alumni institutions as strategic partners, reinforcing the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Technology’s (FEST) commitment to fostering international academic networks. By engaging distinguished alumni, FIISME 2026 highlighted the importance of shared knowledge and best practices in science and mathematics education, setting the stage for future joint initiatives in research and innovation.

Alumni Involvement as Innovation Project Advisors for Innovation in Education students By Rinawati Abdul Sukoh

As part of the Innovation in Education (MHPU1013)  course, three distinguished alumni, namely Cikgu Rinawati Abdul Sukoh from SMK Pasir Gudang, Master of Education (Mathematics) Alumnus,  Dr Sofiazanti Saleh founder of SAS Extreme Training and Consultancy and PhD Alumnus of FEST, and Pn. Hazel Michelle Anak Aeng from Kolej Vokasional Tanjung Puteri Master of Education (TVET) alumnus, were invited to serve as advisors for students’ innovation projects. This initiative was organised to strengthen collaboration between the faculty and its alumni while providing students with valuable insights from experienced practitioners in the field of education.

Our Mission
  1. Ensuring the updating of alumni records.
  2. Planning the implementation of alumni engagement activities.
  3. Establishing continuous connections with FEST alumni through platforms such as social media and mailing lists.
  4. Managing efforts to enhance visibility for programs involving alumni collaboration.
  5. Handling feedback from alumni for the improvement of academic and non-academic programs.
  6. Establishing an alumni network for the Faculty of Education (FP), School of Education (SP), and Faculty of Educational Sciences and Technology (FEST).
  7. Fostering good relationships between alumni and FEST for mutual benefit.
  8. Supporting FEST in achieving its objectives of excellence in education, research, service, and international recognition.
