PROGRAMME SYNOPSIS
This programme is designed to prepare aspiring educators with the knowledge, skills, and pedagogical expertise required to effectively teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to diverse learners in a variety of educational contexts. It aims to develop reflective, innovative, and culturally responsive teachers who can foster language acquisition, communication skills, and academic success among non-native English speakers. Grounded in linguistic theory, second language acquisition research, and practical teaching methodologies, the programme equips graduates to design inclusive curricula, assess language proficiency, and adapt instructional strategies to meet the needs of learners across different age groups, proficiency levels, and cultural backgrounds.
PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES
PEO1: Proficient in communicating knowledge and applying practical skills in solving problems critically in the field of English Language as a Second Language (ESL) and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).
PEO2: Competent in interpersonal, digital, numerical, and leadership skills for career and lifelong learning.
PEO3: Utilise ethical principles and entrepreneurial mindset in a professional and societal context.
PEO4: Apply professional and ethical characteristics in managing teaching and learning activities.
PEO5: Able to lead, communicate, adapt in acquiring entrepreneurial knowledge and skills as well as Information Technology.
PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES
PLO1: Describe advanced and comprehensive, theoretical and technical knowledge, as well as demonstrate relevant skills in the field of English and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).
PLO2:
Demonstrate intellectual independence in the application of knowledge by applying critical, analytical and evaluation skills in the field of English and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).
PLO3: Apply a range of practical methods and procedures to solve essential problems in the field of English and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).
PLO4: Work together with different people in diverse learning and working communities.
PLO5:
Convey ideas both in written and oral formats in a well-structured manner using appropriate forms of presentation, confidently, accurately and coherently in appropriate context to a diverse range of audiences.

PLO8: Show autonomy, leadership, and responsibility in working towards pre-determined goals and outcomes.
