    School : School of Education
    Audience : Postgraduate
    Language : English
    Description:

This video is a series of videos on sampling design in social science research. There will be four videos which will be labelled as Part 1, 2, 3 and 4.

In this video (Part 4), the topics covered are several types of purposive sampling which are the continuation of the previous video (Part 3). There are some questions given at the end of this video that can serve as formative assessment or materials for discussion.

The presentation slides of this video was prepared by Dr Rohaya Talib and this video is narrated by Dr Hadijah Jaffri from School of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UTM.

    Description:

This video is a series of videos on sampling design in social science research. There will be four videos which will be labelled as Part 1, 2, 3 and 4.

In this video (Part 2), the topics covered are basic premises of probability sampling and types of probability sampling designs. There are four types of probability sampling designs: simple random sampling, systematic sampling, stratified sampling and cluster sampling.

The presentation slides of this video was prepared by Dr Rohaya Talib and this video is narrated by Dr Hadijah Jaffri from School of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UTM.

    Description:

Sampling design in quantitative research is probability and non probability sampling. Choosing a sampling design demands researchers to understand the categories of sampling and types of sampling design and justification of choosing and using specific sampling design in a research.

    Description:

The theory of fluid and crystallized intelligence was proposed by Raymond Cattell in 1963. Later on, John Horn (Cattell’s student) refined this theory in 1998. The refinement of this theory makes it remains to be accepted and popular until now.

    Description:

One of the most popular approaches to understand intellgence from a practical perspective is Robert Sternberg’s triarchic theory (1985, 2000). The triarchic theory proposes that intelligence composes of three dimensions: analytical, creative and practical dimensions. Each dimension encompasses specific abilities in response to different context, task or problems.

    Description:

Charles Spearman was not the first one who proposed the idea of intelligence as a single trait. But his idea is later used as reference for others to refine various theories of intelligence. His work in developing intelligence scales serves as a basis for subsequent works in intelligence testing and refinement of intelligence theories until current days.

    Description:

Think-pair-share (TPS) is an active learning technique used to engage students to work together to solve a problem or answer a question or share opinions about an assigned task such as reading. This technique requires students to
    1) think individually about a topic or answer to a question;
    2) be paired up with others to exchange response/answer; and
    3) share ideas with partners/pairs and/or classmates
