MPPD 1353 : Education and Social Cultural Change

This course intends to provide students with the understanding of the concept
and elements of social change and culture change and its relationship with
education. It will emphasize the concepts, characteristics, influencing factors,
models, types and theories of social change and cultural change. The
students will also be exposed and analyzed socialization agents in Malaysia,
social stratification, social institution, family and school as social institutions,
school culture and social changes and social mobility through education. The
materials used in this course will reflect cases from Malaysia as well as from
other countries in the world in order to provide a comparative perspective on
the issues discussed.
