The main emphasis of this course is on various educational philosophies and thoughts which influence curriculum development. Discussions will focus on the concept of philosophy, various philosophical approaches, their relation to education and more specifically to the curriculum development. Similarities and differences in educational philosophies and thoughts from the perpectives of idealism, realism, pragmatism, existentialism, perenialism, essentialism, progresivism and reconstructivism will be discussed relating them to various curriculum models.
