FAQ

Q. What is the medium of instruction?
Ans. The medium of instruction is mostly English but Bahasa Malaysia is also acceptable. The international students need not require any proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia but a preliminary understanding would be very helpful.

Q. When should I register for the courses?
Ans. You should consult your relevant academic calendar for the duration in which registration of courses is open. Keep in mind that the registration opens at 12:00 AM (midnight) on the 1st day of registration and you should be prepared to get yourself registered in this period for the high demand courses (Like Malaysian Society and Culture etc). Its better to consult your relevant department a day before the registration opens and ask guidance about such issues.

Q. Where should I go to register my courses?
Ans. http://pendaftaran.utm.my/sps/

Q. Is there anything else that I need to know while registering for a particular subject?
Ans. Yes, you should first download the class time table from your respective faculty website and check whether the courses you are registering for are in conflict with each other in terms of their timings.

Q. I am late for the registration of a particular subject and all the seats have been filled. What should I do?
Ans. You can request your relevant department and the lecturer to let you register for the class and then do the said registration manually.

Q. What should I put in as username and password?
Ans. Your ACID account username and password. If you have not yet activated your ACID account then go to http://acid.utm.my and click on CheckACID and key in your Matric ID number (if you are local) or IC number (if you are international student) and get your username and password. Please note that you can find your Matric ID number and IC number on your Matric Card (UTM Student Card).

Q. I am an international student and have just arrived in UTM, where should I go?
Ans. Immediately contact UTM International Student Center (ISC). The ISC staff and volunteers will guide you about the procedures that you have to follow. Please note that ISC is operational only during office hours.
